KOTHAKOTA MUNICIPALITY

Kothakota Municipality is 3rd Grade Municipality, merging kothakotaGramaPanchayat in the Year 2018. It is located at latitude 16.38136° N and longitude 77.94094° E Its latitude is (+) 352.00mts to (+) 401.00mts.

            Kothakota Municipality having population 19042 as per 2011 census and present population is 24150 (approximately) with 15 electoral wards, with an extent of 12.79 Sq. Kms.

  1. A) Development Achievements
  • Storm Water Drain (SWD) works have been taken up under TUFIDC with an estimated cost of ₹1.50 crore in Kothakota Municipality
  • Development works amounting to ₹15.00 crore have been undertaken in Kothakota Municipality under Nagarabhivruddhi Funds. The works include the construction of Cement Concrete (CC) Roads, Side Drains, Parks Development, Lake Development, Median Plantation, Street Lighting, and other infrastructure development works.
  • Drinking water infrastructure has been strengthened by constructing two Overhead Service Reservoirs (OHSRs) with capacities of 1200 KL and 900 KL.
  • Under the AMRUT 2.0 Scheme, drinking water infrastructure has been strengthened by constructing two Overhead Service Reservoirs (OHSRs) with storage capacities of 1,200 KL and 900 KL, along with the laying of distribution pipelines to ensure an adequate and reliable drinking water supply to the residents of Kothakota Municipality.
  • Construction of the Municipal Office Building has been taken up under TUFIDC funds at an estimated cost of ₹2.00 crore.
  • Under Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) 2.0, Aspiration Toilet work has been undertaken with an estimated cost of ₹0.20 crore.

  1. E) INDIRA VANAPRABHA:

 

As part of Indira Vanaprabha program, 9 tree parks and 1 Nursury were establishedin 15 Wards of kothakota municipality.

 

                For the sapling program in Kothakota town, nurseries were set up by women’s associations in the town and plants were raised.

 

                For the year 2025-2026, 76% of the target of 38000 plants against the target of 50000 plants under the Indira Vanaprabha Program has been completed.

  1. G) MEPMA:

 

There are 393 women’s self-help groups in Kothakota town, comprising 4,252 members.

                              There are a total of seven associations for persons with disabilities in Kothakota town, comprising 72 members.               There are 12 women’s slum federations and 12 urban federations in Kothakota town.               Through the ULLAS program, 110 women were made literate. 

 

Interest Free Loans:

                              A sum of ₹3.16 crore has been sanctioned to 311 groups in Kothakota town for the years 2023-2024 and 2024-2025.

 

Indirammasaree distribution programme:

               

            As part of the ‘Indira Mahila Shakti’ celebrations, the government distributed ‘Indiramma’ sarees to eligible poor women in Kothakota town. 

AtmaNirbar Scheme:

                                A survey was conducted to identify street vendors in Kothakota town for loan sanctions under the Atmanirbhar scheme, resulting in the identification of 1,235 individuals. Bank loans were subsequently sanctioned to these vendors: ₹10,000 to 1,074 individuals in the first phase, ₹20,000 to 985 individuals in the second phase, and ₹50,000 to 235 individuals in the third phase.

Bank Linkage Loans:

                            In Kothakota town, bank linkage loans amounting to ₹175.00 lakh have been sanctioned to 17 women’s groups, against a target of ₹1006.84 lakh for 94 groups for the 2026-2027 period.         If a member who has taken a loan through StreeNidhi passes away unexpectedly, she is covered by accident insurance of up to ₹10 lakhs, and the outstanding loan is waived.         Awareness was created among women’s group members regarding training programs for establishing small-scale industries through Udyam registration.         Adolescent girls (aged 14 to 18 years) were identified, and arrangements were made for them to undergo health check-ups at the Primary Health Centre and receive advice on maintaining a balanced diet and healthy growth. Additionally, ‘Sneha’ groups are being formed for adolescent girls.

 

  1. H) BastiDavakhanas:

Basti dispensaries have been set up near 13th Ward at VikalangulaBhavan inKothakota town and in Teachers Colony as per government directives.

 

  1. i) vehicles:

Kothakota Municipality have Two (2) garbage collection tractors, One (1) Water Tanker, Four (4) autos and one (1) JCB.

 

  1. J) Build Now:

                Telangana Government launched April 2025 Build Now website for building permits. A total of 179 applications have been received till 19.09.2026 in Kothakota Municipality through Atty Build Now. Of these, 166 applications were approved, 5 applications were rejected and 8 applications were pending.

 

  1. K) Public Governance (Scheme of 6 Guarantees):

                For the welfare of the people of Telangana, the government has introduced 6 guarantees namely 1) Mahalakshmi2) Grihajyoti3) YuvaVikasam4) Indiramma houses 5) Cheyuta6) RythuBharosa and the date for their implementation. As a part of that, centers have been set up in 15 wards of Kothakota Municipality and a total of 6322 applications have been received and made online. At present the eligible people in the town are benefiting from zero (0) current bill and gas subsidy and through schemes such as construction of Indiramma houses, free bus travel for women etc.
