B.C. WELFARE DEPARTMENT

1) Brief Introduction about the Department:

The Backward Classes Welfare Department focuses on the welfare and development of Backward Classes and aims to promote Social, Educational advancement, and Economic development among the backward classes.

2) Scheme and Activities of the Departments:

a) Pre-Matric Hostels:

(10) Pre – Matric Hostels are functioning with (08) for Boys with admitted strength (642) and (02) for Girls, with admitted strength (114) in Wanaparthy District and Total admitted strength (756), and Sanctioned Strength of boys is (1150) and Girls Sanctioned strength is (330), and Total Sanctioned strength is (1480).

b) Post-Matric Hostels:

(02) College Girls Hostels with admitted strength (267) and (03) College Boys Hostels with admitted strength (297), and Total Admitted Strength (564) are functioning in Wanaparthy District. The sanctioned strength of Boys is (300) and Girls Sanctioned Strength is (200).

Mahathma Jyothiba Phule B.C.Residential School & Junior Colleges:

The Government has Sanctioned (03) Residential Schools with Sanctioned Strength (1360) and (01) Residential Junior Colleges with Sanctioned strength (320) running in the Wanaparthy district.

c) Post Matric Scholarships, Reimbursement of Tuition Fees to BC Students, and Reimbursement of Tuition Fees to EBC Students:

The government of Telangana is implementing Post Matric Scholarship Scheme on a saturation basis to enable the poor and eligible students belonging to OBCs who are admitted under Convener Quota (Category – ‘A’) only to pursue higher studies in the Universities and the institutions regulated by the Government. It consists of two schemes.1) Maintenance fees (MTF) 2) Reimbursement of tuition fees (RTF).

 

d) Pre-Matric Scholarships:

Sanction of Pre-Matric Scholarships to the Govt/Aided School students from 9th standard to 10th standard to all the students whose parental income is below Rs.1,50,000/- through the EPASS website.

e) Incentives to inter-caste marriages:

  • The Govt has introduced schemes for inter-caste married couples.
  • A married couple should to different castes apply for incentive awards along with caste.
  • Certificate age certificate joint photos of first marriage certificate etc., the couples @ Rs.10000/-.

 

f)Mahatma Jyothiba Phule BC Overseas Vidya Nidhi:

The government introduced a new scheme i.e. “Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Overseas Vidya Nidhi” or Financial Assistance to BC and EBC students to pursue Post Graduation courses abroad in 10 countries i.e. USA, UK, Canada, Australia, Singapore, Germany, New Zealand, Japan, France & South Korea by providing financial assistance of Rs.20.00 Lakhs along with Air Ticket fare up to Rs.50, 000/- and Visa Charges per student, provided the annual family income does not exceed Rs.5.00 Lakhs per annum under the scheme.

g)Training to BC Law Graduates in the Administration of Justice:

The Govt. is implementing a Training Programme in the Administration of Justice for Eligible BC Law Graduates whose self/ parental income does not exceed Rs. 2.00 Lakhs per annum. B.C. Department is providing assistance to the BC Advocates enabling them to improve their performance in their profession @ 4 Advocates per district.

1)       An enrolment fee of Rs. 585/-.

2)       Rs.3000/- towards purchase of books & furniture.

3)       Stipend of Rs.500/- p.m. for 3 years.

h)Kalyana Laxmi Scheme to B. Cs & E.B.Cs:

This scheme is dealing with Revenue Department as the Tahsildars will verify the applications and submit the Revenue Divisional Officer, the Revenue Divisional Officer will sanction as per eligibility after passing the bills the cheques will be distributed by the Hon’ble M.L. As of the respective constituency. The budget will provide by the B.C. Welfare Department. The Sanction of One Eligible couple amount is Rs.1,00,116/-

i)Construction Dhobhights completed for the year 2015-16:

05 Dhobhights are functioning in the District for the Group Rajaka Peoples to develop their professional skills and provide them best livelihood. This scheme may be utilized for group of specified professional Communities of Rajaka Peoples.

j)Registration of New B.C. Federations:

Registration-New website is launched for the Registration of Primary Cooperative Societies and affiliation of the same to the concerned Federations online – Site opened website: http://tsbcwd.cgg.gov.in

  • Abhyudaya Yojana for Urban areas.
  • Margin Money for Rural areas.

The main aim of Telangana State B.C. Co-operative Finance Corporation to assist the weaker sanctions of B. Cs for their Socioeconomic development. The Corporation is extended its service to assist the weaker section of B. Cs for their economic development by way of financial assistance. Arranging Subsidy (80%), (70%), & (60%) from Corporations for Category – I, II, III, and (20%), (30%), & (40%) bank loan, subsidy subject only. Unit cost ranges from Rs. 100,000/- to Rs. 10,00,000/-. The average unit cost is taken for a plan category-wise.

4) B.C. Federation (Groups) Financial Assistance through 11 Community Federations Bankable Subsidy Schemes:

The main aim of Telangana State 11 B.C. Co-operative Societies to assist the weaker sections of B.Cs in their Socioeconomic development. The Federations extended their service to assist the weaker section of B.Cs in their economic development by way of financial assistance. “The Subsidy shall be limited to Rs.1, 00, 000/- per member of the Society (Society usually has around 15 individuals as members). The subsidy payable shall be Rs.15,00,000/- (Rupees Fifteen Lakhs only) or less depending on the number of members in the Society). The unit cost will be Rs.2,00,000/- per member and Rs.30,00,000/- Lakhs (Rupees Thirty Lakhs only) for 15 members group with Bank Loan of 50% i.e. Rs.1,00,000/- per member, for each society at Rs.15,00,000/-.

5) ECONOMIC SUPPORT SCHEME THROUGH BC CORPORATION, 11 BC FEDERATIONS & MOST BACKWARD CLASSES CORPORATION. (2018-19):

  • In BC Corporation total of 4935 applications are registered for the year 2017-18 and 2018-19. In this Cat-I 911 applications, Cat-II 1869 applications, and Cat-III 2155 applications are registered and in Most Back Ward Classes (MBC) total of 108 applications are registered in various schemes.
  • In the 11 B.C Federation schemes for the year 2017-18 and 2018-19 total applications, 4638 are registered online. In this Cat-I 1027, Cat-II 1816, and Cat-III 1795 are registered.

6) Free Electricity provided to Washermen / Rajaka’s Communities up to 250 units:

The scheme is applicable only to NayeeBrahmins and Rajaka for beneficiaries consuming less than 250 units of electricity per month from 01-04-2021. Eligible beneficiaries can apply through TS OBMMS on the CGG Online Portal (https://tsobmms.cgg.gov.in/) of the BC Welfare Department.
