ABOUT THE COLLEGE:
The College of Horticulture, Mojerla is a highly esteemed institution for horticulture education in the Telangana state. It was established in 2007. Sri Konda Laxman Telangana Horticultural University is the first Horticulture University (SKLTGHU) in Telangana and the fourth in India. The College of Horticulture, Mojerla is one of three constituent colleges of SKLTGHU, offering four years undergraduate B. Sc (Hons) Horticulture program in Horticulture. Over the past decade, the college has achieved numerous academic milestones and is highly regarded for its quality education.
Horticulture sector plays a vital role in Telangana’s economy. It contributes 31% to Agriculture GVA in terms of value of the produce (Rs. 26,673 crores value of horticulture produce out of the total value of Rs. 85,959 crores of Agriculture & Allied activities during 2020-21) in the State (TSEO, 2023). Recognizing its significance, the Telangana government, through G.O. Ms. No. 31 & 32, dt: 22-12-2014, Agriculture and Cooperation (H & S) Department, adopted the Dr. Y.S.R. Horticultural University Act – 2007 (Act No. 30 of 2007), with certain modifications, to establish Sri Konda Laxman Telangana Horticultural University (SKLTGHU) with its headquarters in Mulugu Village and Mandal, Siddipet District. Students from across Telangana are being admitted to the B.Sc. (Hons.) Horticulture program through a centralized common counselling system for EAPCET qualified candidates from the Bi.P.C. stream. College of Horticulture, Mojerla has intake capacity of eighty seats and thirteen seats through HORTICET from Horticulture diploma programme.

- B Sc. (Hons.) Horticulture 4 years – as per the 6th Deans syllabus of Committee recommendations, IACR, New Delhi.
Mission, Goals and Objectives:
Mission:
To provide education in Horticulture at all levels and in all disciplines of modern times for futuristic and emerging frontier area of Horticulture knowledge, learning and research. Also, to develop the overall personality of students by making them not only excellent Horticultural professionals but also good individuals. To prepare and support individuals for career, build awareness, develop and disseminate the scientific technology for the food security, nutrition, economy and efficient utilization of natural resources so as to articulate accurately the vision for the future of Horticulture.
Goals:
The educational institution aims to update and expand its programs related to food, nutrition, economy, and sustainable use of natural resources. It provides education, training, research, and technology transfer while developing students’ personalities through a holistic Horticultural approach. The institution strives to improve its educational programs systematically to meet market demands, encourage creativity, entrepreneurship, and innovation, and develop leadership qualities and strong partnerships within the educational system. It seeks to elevate and extend standards of excellence in classroom teaching, laboratory, and field instructions.
Objectives:
- Education: To attain excellence in Education, Research and Extension in the field of Horticulture
- Research: To conduct location specific and need based research and to generate technologies for improving production and productivity of Horticultural crops.
- Outreach: To implement effective extension programmes for efficient transfer of technology and to provide consultancy services in Horticulture and allied fields.
