Brief Notes of O/o DWO,WCD&SC Departmental activities

A. Women Development & Child Welfare Department: WD & CW Department is being provided supplementary Nutrition, immunization, health check-ups, Pre-school education to (5,978) 7months to 3 years children (11,409), Pregnant Women(2,318) and Lactating Mothers(1,223) along with Adolescent Girls through 589 Anganwadi Centres i.e. three projects in Wanaparthy District 1)Atmakur Project 151AWCs 2)Pebbair Project 189AWCs and 3)Wanaparthy Project 249AWCs total 589 AWCs in Wanaparthy district.

B. Poshan Vatika: Total 61 AWCs are sanctioned in the District and ROR Water plants, Bal Paintings also sanctioned.

C. Electricity: Electricity connections 1st phase 282 & 2nd Phase 184AWCs are sanctioned to Own & Rent free Anganwadi centres in the district.

D. MGNREGS: 2024-25 year 16 AWCs and 2025-26 year 35 AWCs Sanctioned for New buildings constructions in the District.

B. Disabled, Senior Citizen and Transgender Department: Welfare of Disabled and Senior Citizen Department is being provided aids and appliances to eligible disabled and providing Economic rehabilitation, Marriage incentive awards, Pre-metric and Post-metric Scholarships to eligible disabled students.

SCHEME WISE BRIEF NOTES

1. AROGYALAXMI (“One Full Meal” For Pregnant  and Lactating Women At The Anganwadi Centre): An implementation of ICDS has resulted in improvement of the nutritional status of women and children in the state, the desired goals have not been achieved.

1The percentage of low birth weight babies, underweight children (<3 years)and pregnant women who are anaemic is still high. As a result, reduction of Infant Mortality Rate(IMR) and Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR)continues to be a challenge.Scientific evidence shows that malnutrition starts early in life and its effects become irreversible after 2-3 years. Meeting the nutritional needs of Pregnant & Lactating women is therefore one of the critical windows of opportunity available to prevent malnutrition. Hence a need was felt to modify the nutrition programme of ICDS especially as the Take Home Ration (THR) provided to Pregnant and Lactating women under ICDS is not only too meagre but also gets shared by all members of the family.

In this regard, the State Government introduced ArogyaLaxmi Programme which involves spot feeding of “one full meal” for Pregnant and Lactating women at the Anganwadi centre along with administration of Iron & Folic Acid (IFA) tablet. The programme was started on 01.01.2013 in ICDS Projects with most adverse health and nutrition indicators.

The one full meal consists of Rice, Dal with leafy Vegetables / sambar, vegetables for a minimum of 25 days, boiled Egg and 200ml. milk for 30 days in a month.  The one full meal will meet 40-45% of the daily calorie and 40-45% of protein and calcium requirement per day of the pregnant and lactating mothers. Along with the meal, Iron Folic Acid (IFA) tablet is to be administered. For children between 7 months to 3 years are providing 16 Eggs per month where as children from 3-6 years were providing 30 Eggs per month.

1Objectives of “Arogya Laxmi programme”:
Enhance the quality and acceptability of supplementary nutrition by the Pregnant and Lactating women Ensure food supplied is consumed by only the Pregnant and Lactating women Rather than the whole family Ensure that Pregnant and Lactating women consume 90+ IFA tablets.  Improve the enrolment of mothers at Anganwadi Centres (AWCs).

Eliminate or decrease number of Pregnant and Lactating women with anaemia/ who are undernourished. Reduce the incidence of low birth babies and malnutrition among children.Ensure that Pregnant and Lactating women receive health checkups and immunization. Reduce the incidence of infant mortality and maternal mortality.

3. Aids and appliances: Try cycles, Retro fitted Motorized vehicles (Scooty),

Laptops, 5G Smart Phones, Smart cane, TLM Kit, Battery Wheel Chairs, Mobile Business Battery Tricycles, Battery operated wheel chairs , Auto , Tabs, Crutches, Hearing aids, Blind Walking sticks, daisy players distributed for eligible for PwDs.

4. 100% subsidy loans for Transgender: 1 Nos@ 75,000/- 2025-26.

Mythri Clinic: Mythri clinic Inaugurated on 02.12.2024 and Transgenders are utilized the Hospital Services every Thursday at Government General Hospital.

  • 18 Transgenders certificates are issued in the Wanaparthy district.

SAKHI ONE STOP CENTRE – WANAPARTHY

  • The Women Development and Child Welfare Department, Telangana Government under overall implementation of the scheme through “Nirbhaya Fund”
  • The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) had an MOU with WD&CWD as its knowledge and technical partnership.
  • “Rural Development Society” – Wanaparthy is the Support Agency for SAKHI OSC in Wanaparthy District.
  • Sakhi inaugurated on Dt:01.07.2019. Total registered cases 2991 from Dt:01.07.2019 In that 2840 cases are solved and 151 cases are under process.  The Detailed year wise information has been attached along with this letter.

Objectives of Sakhi OSC:

  • To provide integrated support and assistance to Women affected by violence at public & Private places.
  • To facilitate emergency and non – emergency access to a range of services including Medical Assistance, Psycho Social Counseling, Legal Counseling & Shelter support at one place to fight against any forms of violence against women.
  • To provide Career Guidance and Premarital Counseling for adolescent age group.

Mission Vatsalya Scheme(BRB):

  • Children between ages 0 to18.
  • Children In Need of Care and Protection (CNCP).
  • Children in Conflict with Law (CCL).

CHILD RESCUED THROUGH DISTRICT CHILD PROTECTION UNIT

  • From the establishment of District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) in Wanaparthy District, As on date DCPU staff directly rescued and provided services to 1569 (B-1001, G-568) Children who in need care protection (CNCP).

  • Provided services to the CNCP children as per the Child Welfare Committee orders and with the Co-ordination of line department.

CHILD CARE INSTITUTES (CCIs):

  • Total 02 Child Care Institutions (CCIs) are registered under Juvenile Justice Act – 2015. Among of them, 1 is Government CCI and the remaining 01 CCIs is running by NGOs.
  • 1 CCI providing shelter to Girls, 1 CCIs providing shelter to Boys.
  • Presently 16 children residing in Children Home, Wanaparthy which is run by Government
  • Presently 27 children (27 – Boys) are staying in Cheyutha Ashramam (NGO-CCI).

OPERATION SMILE / OPERATION MUSKHAN:

  • To identifying and rescued the Missing, Run away and vulnerable children through the special campaign namely “Operation Smile/Muskhan”
  • Since 2016 every year January and July months District Child Protection Unit staff along with police department has Conducted Special Drive to Identify the Missing /runway Children.

CHILD HELP LINE:

  • As per the guidelines issued by Ministry of Women and Child Development, GOI, New Delhi implementing CHILD HELP LINE for the welfare and rehabilitation of children in difficult circumstances in all Districts of the state.
  • Child Help line staff is available for 24 X 7 to rescue the CNCP children

District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW)

Introduction:

Mission Shakti – Samarthya: It is schemes in mission mode aimed at strengthen intervention for women safety, security and empowerment. It seeks to realise the government’s commitment for women lead development by addressing issues affecting women on life cycle.

The District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) will have a specialised team of 6 persons-District Mission Coordinator-1, Gender Specialist-2, Specialist in Financial Literacy-1, Accounts Assistant-1, Multi-Purpose Worker-1. In Wanaparthy district DHEW was established on 14th June, 2023.

Services: Services will be provided at Gram panchayat level through convergence with front line workers under various schemes and programs such as Asha’s, AWT’s, ANM’s, SHG’s, Krushi Vignan kendras, Sakhi One stop centres, Start-up India, PMKVY, MGNREGA, Digital India, Sukanya Samrudhi Yojna, Poshan Abhiyan 2.0, Mission Vastalya, NRLM.

Training and Capacity building programmes will also be undertaken as part of HEW components of Samarthya Sub-scheme.

Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP)

OBJECTIVES OF THE SCHEME:

  1. Improvement in the sex ratio at birth (SRB) by 2 point every year.
  2. Improvement in the percentage of institutional deliveries or sustained at the rate of 95% or above.
  3. 1% increase in 1st Trimester Anti-natal care (ANC) Registration per year,
  4. 1% increase in enrollment at secondary education level and skilling of girls / women per year.
  5. To check dropout rate among girls at secondary and higher secondary levels.
  6. Raising awareness about safe menstrual hygiene management (MHM)
