1. BRIEF NOTES ON FISHERIES DEPARTMENTAL ACTIVITIES IN WANAPARTHY DISTRICT

FISHEREIS DEPARTMENT, Room No.204 & 206, IDOC Building, WNAPARTHY.

The Wanaparthy district (1017) Departmental Tanks including Reservoirs existing in the district with water spread area of 26,217.00 Hectors which are in use for fish culture. In addition to the abundant water sources in this district the River Krishna  and its backwater is  embedded in the district and resulting natural fishery wealth which providing lively hood to fishermen. The Wanaparthy District is high potential for fish culture most of the tanks are canal fed and perennial sources.

2. Fish Markets and Community Halls:

The Government sanction 10 lakhs per unit  for construction of Fish markets. (03) markets are sanctioned  in the District by the Fisheries Department and (01) is completed. The Government sanction 9 lakhs per unit for construction of Community Halls. (12) Community Halls are sanctioned in the District by the Fisheries Department and (10) are completed.

3. SCHEMES:

i) Integrated Fisheries Development Scheme for 2018-19: The Telangana State Government have been introduced Integrated Fisheries Development Scheme to provide financial assistance to the Fish folk in various components

ii) Blue Revaluation:

The Government has sponsored and sanctioned Fish Ponds, Fish Rearing Ponds, Hacharies and RAS (Recirculatory Aquaculture System) schemes under Blue Revaluation for the development of Fisheries Sector in the District on 40% and SC/ST/WOMEN 60% Back-end subsidy.

iii.Seed Stocking programme under 100% Subsidy:

The Government has introduced 100% free Fish Seed Stocking Programme in the Reservoirs  Departmental Tanks and Gramapanchayat tanks for optimum utilization of the water sources for maximum fish production for eking the lively hood of fishermen in the district. iii) Disposal of Tanks:

In the Wanaparthy District there are 1015 tanks are being leased out to the local genuine Fishermen Cooperative Societies, on nominal lease amount, as per the instructions given by Government from time to time through G.O’s duly getting the rental assessment approved by the District Collector.

IV) Issue of License in Reservoirs:

The license Scheme is introduced in Srisailam Back Waters and Jurala Priyadarshini Project. The Licenses are issued to the Reservoir Fishermen for Fishing in Reservoirs for their livelihood every year.

5. Special Initiatives:

The Government of Telangana State introduced Insurance Scheme for the Fishermen under the Scheme the Fishermen who accidentally died will be get an amount of Rs.5.00 Lakhs as exgratia. There are (11574) Fishermen comes under Insurance Scheme.

PMSBY(Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana):

   Under this scheme 18-70 year peoples are eligible and its covers Rs.5.00 lakhs for Accidental Death only.
