“National Unity Day” Celebrations on the occasion of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Jayanti at the District Collector’s Office.

         The Hon’ble District Collector Smt. Shaik Yasmeen Basha, IAS, said that Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who was instrumental in the country’s unity, was celebrating his birthday on October 31 as “National Unity Day”.

          On Sunday, on the occasion of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary, she laid flowers and paid rich tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at the District Collector’s office.

         Speaking on the occasion, the District Collector said that Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was the first Home Minister of India and that the Government of India had declared October 31 as the “National Unity Day” to mark his birthday, as part of which the event was held every year. The District Collector said that Sardar Patel, who made the people of the country feel a sense of unity, was an idealist and that we were all reaping the fruits of freedom and independence. The District Collector explained that soon after he took charge as the Home Minister of India, he incorporated 565 States of India into the Government of India and initiated the establishment of the Indian Civil Services. She explained that the pledge was made on the occasion of National Unity Day.
