International Day of Disabled Persons, Wanaparthy.
The Hon’ble District Collector Smt. Shaik Yasmeen Basha, IAS was the chief guest at the “International Day of Disabled Persons” organized by the District Welfare Department at the Sangam Function Hall in Vanaparthi town on Saturday and started the program by lighting the lamp.
Speaking on this occasion, she said that disabled people should not feel handicapped, they should excel with self-confidence, perseverance, and talent. She said that disabled people excel in various fields with their talent and are an inspiration to many. She suggested that the state government is implementing various welfare schemes for the welfare of disabled people and they should take advantage of them.
The Hon’ble District Collector said that in the united states, they used to give a pension of Rs.500/- per month to the disabled, while in our state, Rs.3016/- was given to them. She said that after the formation of Telangana state, tricycles, wheelchairs, crutches, and three-wheeler, scooties are being provided to the disabled. She said that she will work hard to establish a building for the disabled and a dormitory for the disabled. On this occasion, she distributed prizes to the winners of the sports competitions organized in various categories.
In this program, District Additional Collector (Local Body) Ashish Sangwan, Municipal Vice Chairman Vakiti Sridhar, District Welfare Officer Pushpalatha, DRDO. Nurses, officials, disabled people, and others participated.
